It's the vigor of youth vs. the wisdom of the aged in the ladies heat, as a 20-year-old college student tries to put up a Grade-A battle against a 52-year-old investment manager. In the men's round, a dolphin trainer rumbles with a media director.
Here's the skinny: Four amateur athletes who successfully lost weight are featured. In the men's skirmish, a teacher (who shed 65 pounds) tries to chalk up a win against a waiter (who dropped more than 100 pounds). The women's tilt features battlers who both lost more than 60 pounds.
The men's match features a science teacher and a Columbine survivor. In the ladies' skirmish, a military vet squares off against a crime reporter. Lou Ferrigno, star of the TV show "The Incredible Hulk" (1978-82), makes an appearance.
Season 2 opens with some new gladiators and a flashier arena. Amateur athletes battling in grueling games---and running afoul of the gladiators---include a black belt; a firefighter; a grocery-store owner; and a carpenter. Hulk Hogan and Laila Ali host.
The first semifinal round features returning winners in battle against the predatory gladiators. In the men's competition, a rock climber squares off against a fireman. In the ladies' contest, a fitness trainer tangles with a gymnastics instructor.
Mike Adamle and Dan Clark are joined by 1995 Playboy Playmate of the Year Julie Cialini as centerfolds go head-to-head with the Gladiators in a charity competition. Events include “Assault,” “The Gauntlet,” “Hang Tough,” and “Breakthrough and Conquer.”
The third year of competition features two new events, the Maze and the Swing Shot. Gladiator Zap returns this season, joining Lace, Gemini, Nitro, Blaze, Gold, Laser, Ice, Diamond, Turbo and Thunder. Mike Adamle and Larry Csonka are the hosts.
Dan Clark (“Nitro”) joins Mike Adamle in hosting the competition between amateur athletes and the Gladiators. Events include “Assault,” “The Gauntlet” and “Hang Tough.” Gladiators include Hawk, Ice, Jazz, Sky, Siren, Turbo, Sabre and Laser.
