The race continues in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where the final four teams go bog snorkelling. After one pair are eliminated, the last three teams fly to Washington, D.C., and scour some of the city's historic landmarks for a chance to win the $1 million.
The race continues in Botswana, where each team transports two small goats up a river on a canoe. Later, the pairs choose between delivering a wood pile on a cart that is pulled by donkeys or searching for animal silhouettes while riding horses.
The race continues in Hanoi, Vietnam, where the teams face a Double U-Turn. At the Road Block, a member of each pair must locate a lyric from a national song on a poster. Later, the duos choose between making soup or finding human chess pieces.
The race continues in Bali, Indonesia, where the teams choose between creating an elaborate religious offering with fruit or collecting sand from a river bottom. Later, one person from each pair must search among dozens of surfboards to find one with a familiar image on it before their team is allowed to be checked into the pit stop.
The race continues in New Zealand, where the teams run a shemozzle obstacle course that contains molasses, feathers, eggs and a water slide. Later at a Detour, the pairs choose between racing cars on a dirt track or catching two foot-long fish.
The 10 remaining teams compete in Bora Bora. At a Detour, the pairs choose between diving for pearls or setting up an underwater picnic. The Road Block requires one team member to walk on stilts while kicking a coconut across a sandy beach.
The 22nd season begins with 11 two-member teams flying to Bora Bora on the race's first leg. The pair who arrive first at the initial pit stop win two express passes that enable them to bypass any future challenge. The duo can keep one pass, but must give the other one to a rival team by the end of the fourth leg.
