In the series finale, Raja is interested in a Muslim girl, so Franny arranges a date for him that includes both families. Justin then feels pressure to date, so he goes out with a neurotic gal, and Claire dates a German exchange student.
Raja raises awareness for Students Against Drunk Driving by planning a mock funeral for a classmate who "died" in an alcohol-related accident. But jealousy erupts when Raja selects Justin to be the pretend victim and not the school's most popular student, the traditional choice each year.
Raja befriends a girl who is ostracized by most other students, but he soon regrets it when she turns out to be extremely annoying and believes they are dating. Back at home, Gary and Franny click with their new neighbors until they learn the couple's shocking secret.
Justin auditions for a community-theater production of "Rent" because a cute girl is playing the female lead. Elsewhere, Claire works a teen hotline at school, but when she's unable to help anyone, a sympathetic Raja calls in using a fake name and American accent and tells her his problems.
Gary takes Justin and Raja hunting because he wants to push his son in a manlier direction after Justin announces his future plans to bypass a career and be a stay-at-home dad. Elsewhere, Franny and Claire have a strong disagreement, which leads to a confrontation in a local nightclub.
Justin becomes the target of a bully at school, so he makes up a story about his mom being in a coma, hoping to gain the bigger guy's sympathy and not get beaten up. Elsewhere, Franny accidentally bumps a parked car and leaves a note for the owner, but when Gary finds out he tries to retrieve the note before it's found.
Justin and Raja help carry out the annual junior-class school prank, but things go awry when their conscience kicks in. Back at home, Gary looks for work, Franny starts selling stuff around the house over the Internet and Claire inexplicably bonds with the alpaca herd while caring for them.
Claire persuades Justin to be the school's fish mascot, but he gets too frightened to perform. Elsewhere, Gary spends his days at a giant hardware store where he pretends he is employed and actually helps customers.
Raja starts smoking when he gets stressed out about some exams. Unfortunately, his bad habit spreads to Franny and Gary, who gave up cigarettes years ago. Elsewhere, Justin refuses to talk to Claire after she embarrasses him at school.
Justin is crushed and out for revenge when Raja's idea for the junior-class homecoming float is chosen over his own; Franny tries on Claire's sexy homecoming dress and Gary finds her irresistible in it, but when he learns the revealing dress belongs to Claire, he forbids his daughter to wear it.
Gary is fired from his job, but he's too ashamed to tell Franny. Meanwhile, Raja gets a job at a convenience store that is a popular teen hangout, a position that's threatened after he refuses to sell beer to his classmates with fake ID cards.
Raja persuades a sexy girl in school to dress more modestly and concentrate on developing her mind. While working with Raja and the girl on a project, Justin begins to think she likes him. At home, Franny gives Gary a fashion makeover.
Justin and his buddies make up a fake after-school rocket club so they can hang out, but when Franny hears about their group she insists they allow Raja to join. Unfortunately, Raja buys supplies to build a real rocket and is thought by police to be a terrorist. Meanwhile, Claire tries out for cheerleader and finds the process is nothing to cheer about.
Justin tries to distance himself from Raja at school after Raja inadvertently embarrasses him and makes friends with an unpopular kid. At home, Claire's boyfriend camps out on the lawn after she breaks up with him.
The Tolchucks agree to host an exchange student, but they are shocked when they learn he is a Muslim from Pakistan. Immediately, Franny wants to send him packing and fears he will try to convert Justin.
