Ghost Whisperers, ghoulish Hitchcock and the grand Addams Family...oh my!

Wanna see something really scary? Then wait for MTV to repeat their recording of Legally Blonde: The Musical, because that mess is all the proof you need that the Devil is alive and working. On Broadway, no less! However, if you wanna see something scary-weird rather than scary-dreadful, then grab the third volume of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Wow, that dude is out there with a capital “Macguffin.” And based on these very cool episodes from the 1957 season of his CBS anthology, Hitch was also the man when it came to scoring serious talent.Fresh off the bat, there’s Jessica Tandy in “The Glass Eye” as a spinster who falls for a ventriloquist. You’d think that would be creepy enough, seeing how anyone who talks to wooden dolls is scarier than Jason Voorhees on cheap trucker meth, but no. From Page to Stage: The Addams Family Musical

Spider-Man isn't the only illustrated character eyeing the Great White Way. A musical inspired by the Addams Family cartoons hopes to creep out Broadway patrons during the 2009-10 season. The creative team is appropriately kooky: Composer Andrew Lippa previously penned the off-Broadway incarnation of The Wild Party, while librettists Rick Elice and Marshall Brickman earned a Tony nod for their Jersey Boys book. (Brickman also has an Oscar for long ago cowriting a little indie called Annie Hall.) Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch, best known for the gothic Shockheaded Peter, will direct and design the show. The only thing that could ruin this is if they cast it via an NBC reality series. — Reporting by Raven Snook read more

Premise: This `ghoul comedy' is based on Charles Addams' cartoons, which appeared in the New Yorker and featured such characters as Morticia, Gomez and Uncle Fester. The series lasted for two seasons on ABC, a run that coincided (spookily?) with CBS's `The Munsters.' `The Addams Family' also spun off a couple of animated series; and, in the '90s, two theatrical films with Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston.
