90210 Episode Recap: "Zero Tolerance" Season 1, Episode 22

Everyone is gearing up for West Bev's sophomore prom. Annie accepts an invitation from a geek to prove to Liam that she's a nice person, and Naomi is over the moon when Liam asks her. Ade ends up going into labor at the dance after Navid confronts Ty. Meanwhile, Ryan thinks Kelly's warnings about Jen stem from jealousy.

This week's episode starts out with Annie showing off her stellar acting skills by starring in her father's "Zero Tolerance" video announcement about prom after-parties. Annie tells Naomi it's the only way she could get her dad to buy her a prom dress, but with no date in sight, she clearly didn't think about the social suicide she was committing by appearing in that video.

Liam's father calls Kelly and principal Harry to express his concerns that his son is not invested in the school. Liam could care less, but perks up when he finds out he's threatening military school, so he asks Naomi to the prom to show that he's into the West Bev scene.

Everyone is getting ready for the prom. Silver is going all-out with a fake tan and a puffy pink dress. Annie is just trying to come to terms with her geeky date. Dixon is playing Build-A-Tux online, though with the addition of a top hat and cane, it's more like Build-a-Pimp. Ethan, who wasn't going to go sans date, agrees to play third wheel to Silver and Dixon. Harry is harassing his kids for info about after-prom parties he can raid. And Naomi, who can't make up her mind about what to wear, tries to buy about five dresses, but her card is declined.

When Naomi confronts Jen about maxing out her card, she finds her drooling over the couture she's wearing as Ryan's prom date. Jen finally tells Naomi she's in a "pinch financially," but most likely she's lying when she says it's because of some poor investments.

At the prom, the kids walk the red carpet to pose for the paparazzi. (Wait, WTF?) Silver is hesitant about going in, but Ade convinces her that being eight-months pregnant will get a lot more looks from their classmates. Inside, we see Dixon is nominated for prom king (no queen nomination for Annie though). Navid sees Ty, and just as he's about to say something to him, Ade has a "false alarm." Ryan introduces Kelly to Jen, but Kelly already knows her because Kelly was her guidance counselor — yeah, awkward.

Jen and Kelly have it out in the ladies' bathroom where we learn that Kelly told Yale that Jen was a "narcissist with no moral compass" because she stole a term paper to be valedictorian. Jen really pushes Kelly's buttons by asking for "guidance" on what Ryan likes in bed. Kelly tries to warn Ryan about Jen's true nature, but Ryan thinks (hopes?) she's just jealous. Meanwhile, in a shady cell-phone conversation, we learn that Jen is married and trying to get a divorce.

Charlie is pissed to learn that Annie isn't really into him and tells her to shove her pity. When Harry announces he's busting up an after-party he overheard, Charlie starts spreading rumors that Annie's responsible for telling her dad.

When it comes time to announce the "Prommy" winners, Dixon is crowned king, and, in an only-on-TV moment, Silver is crowned Queen in a write-in landslide. While she's initially touched by her peers' gesture, ultimately the old Silver resurfaces. She goes on a vicious tear about how prom and all its superficial trappings isn't who she is. She says she's not a "zombie, prom-loving loser." Dixon, one of the "losers," is not keen on her speech, but it acts as a catalyst to get Silver ready to return to West Bev. Ethan, on the other hand, liked the speech a lot. They're so gonna hook up.

Outside, Naomi and Liam bump into Kelly, and Naomi learns that Liam asked her to the prom only because of his stepdad. Naomi is about to rip him a new one, but then she realizes that he ordered her a black-orchid corsage — meaning he did his Facebook homework. It's like pulling teeth, but he finally admits that he likes her. They have a heart-to-heart about Liam's family and he actually takes her hand as fake snow falls on the movie lot outside the prom.

And just to set up the finale kicker, Navid and Ty get into a brawl, which is quickly interrupted by Ade telling Navid that her water broke. Look out, baby on the way!

What did you think of the prom episode? What are you hoping will happen in the finale?
