Poll: Hannigan, Epps Rated Emmy Fashion Hits, but Arquette and Cryer Miss Out

Blake Lively, Patricia Aruqette

Okay, so they didn't win Emmys: At least Alyson Hannigan and Omar Epps were voted the biggest hits on the Emmys red carpet in a TVGuide.com poll.

Less successful on the red carpet — and also not scoring any Emmy wins — was Patricia Arquette, whose outfit received a higher percentage of "miss" votes than any other in voting by TVGuide.com users. Jon Cryer's outfit was rated the biggest fashion miss among the men on the red carpet, but at least he has a nice new statuette to cheer him up.

Is Neil Patrick Harris the Patron Saint of "Un-Jumping" the Shark?

Neil Patrick Harris

Let's face it: Neil Patrick Harris is awesome.

The multitalented How I Met Your Mother star breathed some much-needed life into Sunday's Emmy awards. Harris, who also served as a producer, kept the show moving and brought plenty of fun with a rousing opening musical number and a comedy sketch based on his role in Joss Whedon's Internet experiment, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.

The result was a less-bloated, exponentially more watchable telecast that drew in an audience 9 percent larger than last year's record low. So, we wonder: Does Harris have the magic touch?< read more

The three-hour telecast drew 13.3 million viewers, a 9 percent increase over the 2008 awards, which was the least-watched Emmys broadcast since 1990. Host and producer Harris earned almost universal praise for keeping the show lively and on-time, a stark difference from the show's five-host format a year ago.

Kristin Chenoweth

Let's eavesdrop on what this year's newly minted Emmy winners had to say once they made it backstage:

"It's just so sweet that they remembered us. They remembered a show that got canceled that I've never been more proud to be on. I'd much rather be on that than something that lasts a long time that I don't care about. I'm a risk-taker. I mean, look at... read more

Neil Patrick Harris

Sure, the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards didn't boast the fireworks of last week's Kanye-"enhanced" VMAs, but CBS' entertaining three-hour telecast ran smoothly, a credit to host (and producer) Neil Patrick Harris, whose competent hand and effortless improvisational timing made him the subject of more than one of this year's top moments.
