Donner tells her that she is hallucinating, but Zoe persists towards the point of no return. As Paula continues to narrate the recorded video of the fake Venus walk, Arnel and Ajay report that Zoe's suit is starting to deteriorate and that the Venus Lander is overheating.

Like bridesmaids in attendance, Nadia and Jen help Zoe into the bulky EVA suit. Donner is garbed into his pressure suit by Ted and makes his final preparations to pilot the Lander to Venus.

With Beta and Gamma sounding an unearthly duet between the Antares and Venus, the crew confronts loneliness and isolation - each in their own way. In flashbacks to the Ascan training process, Rollie helps Jen overcome her fear of the sensory deprivation tank, while the normally composed Nadia fights her own issues with the isolation experience. Donner tries desperately to perfect the planetary landing, driven by his terror of repeating the Mars disaster and the fear of losing Zoe. Nadia finally comes face to face with her hallucination, the resulting shock finally cracking her icy composure and sending her to Donner for comfort.

Donner does not want Paula to pilot the Venus Lander and is worried about Zoe's upcoming walk on the scorching planet, the specter of the failed Mars mission still haunting him.
