Host Justin Timberlake and a litany of celebs hand out the hardware for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly, highlighted by three special honors: 1968 Olympians Tommie Smith and John Carlos receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award on the 40th anniversary of their Black Power salute in Mexico City; Kevin Everett, now walking after a near-paralyzing injury while playing for the Buffalo Bills, gets the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance; and just days after his epic Home Run Derby display in New York, Josh Hamilton accepts the Best Comeback Award for his return to baseball from drug addiction. — Roger Leister

The true test of any phenomenon (at least in recent years) is whether it can give birth to a reality show. High School Musical has now passed that test. Nick Lachey hosts this talent contest in which teens from across the country compete to win a spot in a summer music program that will help them improve their singing and dancing skills. In the end, one winner will be selected to star in a music video that will be shown during the closing credits of High School Musical 3: Senior Year. But let's not jump ahead: First come the auditions, and tonight the series opens with the initial East Coast round. — Jennifer Sankowski

Whodunit" turns into "how'd he do that?" for Goren and Eames when a celebrity illusionist disappears during his high-profile magic act — but it wasn't part of the trick to show up dead halfway across town on stage with his mentor (Christopher Lloyd). Goren finds himself in his element as he demystifies all the gimmicks and illusions while searching for the suspect with murder up his sleeve. Shaun Robinson (Access Hollywood) and Paul Shaffer (Late Night with David Letterman) have cameos. — Jeanette Martin

After last week's kitchen makeover left the judges yawning, Tracee and Mikey V. got the ax. Now it's up to the final three — Matt, Jennifer and Trish — to re-energize the contest with drama and flair. Tonight, the designers travel to their hometowns for a more personal challenge that will determine who moves on to the finals. — Brie Hearn
9 pm/ET SUNDANCE New
This irreverent British dramedy series created by Paul Abbott chronicles the lives of the Gallagher family, a wildly dysfunctional working-class clan in northern England that includes alcoholic patriarch Frank (David Threlfall) and his six kids. In the Season 3 opener, little Liam denounces the existence of God. To keep him from being expelled from Catholic school, his sister Debbie (Rebecca Ryan) lies and says he has cancer. — Michael Scheinfeld
