Marathon All-Star Game Blasts a Nielsen Home Run
Tuesday night's 15-inning Major League Baseball
All-Star Game gave Fox something to cheer about. The Midsummer Classic drew 14.5 million viewers, the most since 2002, which had 14.7. (That was the year of the dreaded 7-7 tie, which lead to the change in format that gives the winning league home-field advantage in the World Series.) Last year's All-Star pulled just 12.5 million.
The game stretched on for nearly five hours at Yankee Stadium, ending at 1:37 am/ET Wednesday, with the
American League winning, 4-3. It was the sixth straight victory for the AL, which is now
10-0-1 since 1997. The Twins' Justin Morneau scored the winning run (off
a sacrifice fly from the Rangers' Michael Young).
