Lance Armstrong will run 112th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 21. The seven-time Tour de France winner probably could have gotten into the 26.2-mile race based on his celeb status - as
Katie Holmes reportedly has - but instead he did it the old-fashioned way: qualifying with an impressive time of two hours, 46 minutes, 43 seconds at the New York City Marathon last November. (The Boston Athletic Association, which organizes the race, is currently negotiating for a national TV broadcast.)....
Turner Sports and the NBA are strengthening their relationship next season, with Turner set to take control of programming, marketing and technical operations of NBA TV, the league's cable channel, as well as the league's websites, including nba.com and wnba.com. TNT's on-air talent will also appear on NBA TV....
ESPN has big plans for college lacrosse this spring. ESPNU, the company's college-sports network, will kick off its season Saturday, Feb. 23, when defending NCAA champion Johns Hopkins hosts Albany at noon/ET. In addition ESPN2 will have its first-ever regular-season college lax game on Saturday, Mar. 29, when Maryland hosts Virginia. ESPN2 has the NCAA semifinals on May 24, and two days later the national-title game will air on ESPN.
