Beckham & Co. Face West Ham in MLS All-Star Game

After kicking around several all-star formats in its 13-year history, Major League Soccer has netted a winner in pitting its top talent against an elite international club each summer. Led for the first time by L.A. Galaxy star David Beckham, MLS looks to remain unbeaten (4-0) in the format Thursday night as it welcomes one of Beckham's former English Premier League foes, West Ham United, to BMO Field in Toronto (July 24, 7 pm/ET, ESPN).

"It adds a little more flavor and exposure to have international players," says ESPN analyst John Harkes, a former player in both MLS and England. "You can't look at it as a measuring stick of our league against the EPL," he cautions. "West Ham won't quite be 100 percent, while we are in the middle of a season."

The MLS roster also includes Beckham's L.A. teammate Landon Donovan, the leading scorer in the league this year, and popular stars Dwayne De Rosario (Houston Dynamo) and Juan Pablo Angel (New York Red Bulls). For more info and the full rosters, click here. - Roger Leister
