Season 6, Episode 11 In the Shadow of the Sun
First Aired: August 11, 2013
"In the Shadow of the Sun" looks at life for albinos in Tanzania, where superstition often leads to them being slain for their body parts, which are said to possess magical powers. The film focuses on two residents of Lake Victoria's Ukerewe Island, where many albinos live: 15-year-old Vedastus, who cares for his ill mother; and albinism advocate Josephat. When an outbreak of ritual killings breaks out, Vedastus sees little recourse but to flee; Josephat, on the other hand, stands his ground.
