Season 18, Episode 7 The Case for Innocence

First Aired: November 1, 2000

Updating “The Case for Innocence,” a January 2000 examination of why DNA evidence that supports convicts' claims of innocence isn't necessarily enough to get them out of prison. Filmmaker Ofra Bikel interviews prosecutors, judges and defense lawyers (including DNA expert Barry Scheck). She makes cases for two convicts with DNA evidence on their side and looks at another case in which DNA evidence might have exonerated a convict, except that it's too late---the man has already been executed.
