I was kind of shocked last ...
Question: I was kind of shocked last Friday night when a reality-TV star actually died (not acting pretend-dying); it was filmed, and there weren't any spoiler alerts on TVGuide.com. Of course I'm talking about Flower the Meerkat and her death after being bit by a cobra on
Meerkat Manor. It was your rave reviews that got me to watch the meerkats on Friday nights and now I've made it a season pass. I'm gonna miss her. I don't see any strong female Whiskers that are capable of filling her shoes (paws/claws).
Answer: Yes, a moment of silence for dear, departed Flower. I admit I missed this one on the first airing and am hoping to catch up this week. I love
Meerkat Manor,
but this summer and early fall, I just haven't had time to keep up. And while I got some anguished mail wondering why the producers didn't intervene to try to save Flower, I regard the show as a nature documentary, not a docu-drama, and even though I imagine some children may have been watching and were unprepared to witness the brutal facts of life and death in the animal kingdom, I respect the integrity of the production for letting nature take its unhappy course. Some of us still haven't gotten over losing Shakespeare in the first season.
