So I just read that Friday ...

Question: So I just read that Friday Night Lights would pick up eight months from where it left off. I want to know whether some of the open storylines will be tied up. Will they address Jason Street's baby issue or Smash Williams' race war issue? Will anything actually come from Coach Taylor's fight with Mo in the pre-strike finale? How about the new relationship of Landry and Tyra or the issues with Matt in general? The strike ruined what could've been a great season, and I feel like those of us who are fans of the show have been cheated.
Answer: The way I understand it, from what was said earlier this week at the TCA press tour, is that with the jump in time, some of what happened in between will be addressed as the back story gets filled in while the current story moves forward. The fates of Jason and Smash in particular will be dealt with in mini-arcs that will wrap up their characters' stories. I don't doubt that some things will get lost in the process, and everyone feels cheated by the stories lost during the work stoppage. But it's hard to me to feel all that cheated when it's an absolute miracle that at least 13 more hours of Friday Night Lights' story will be told and enjoyed by fans either on DirecTV or, later, on NBC.
