There is an ugly rumor ...
Question: There is an ugly rumor floating around the
Entourage fan pages than the show may not be returning this year for its fifth season (or at all, for that matter). I thought you might be the right person to get to the bottom of this ugly rumor and dispel all the
Entourage groupies' fears — or confirm their worst nightmares. Is what we're hearing true? Does it mean Doug Ellin just won't have time to put out new shows until 2009, or will the show not be returning to HBO at all? Many fans were left in limbo at the end of Season 4 with the fate of
Medillin, and I know Kevin Connolly and others have said they were on board for 4 or 5 more seasons. Doesn't it seem unlikely HBO would pull the plug altogether on such a cult favorite? Thank you so much in advance for your attention to this matter!
Answer: The reason
Entourage may not return on schedule for its fifth season is (drum roll) the strike. HBO has ordered a fifth season, but the strike has delayed
Entourage (like most other shows) from going forward in terms of development and production. Which means, depending on the duration of the strike and how long Doug Ellin and his troops need to plot out and execute a new season, that
Entourage may not be able to return for quite a while. That's not the same as cancellation. I can't imagine HBO dumping the show at this point. But honestly, if this strike doesn't resolve itself in the next month or so, who can predict where any of the dominoes will fall? Certainly not me.
