Cavemen be the first time a show has been born through a commercial? I hate the cavemen ads and will not be checking out the show. Also, I was wondering if Geico will get any of the profits (if there are any!) from the show, since it was their commercials that started it all.
Answer: From what I understand of the credits I've seen, Geico sold the rights to the cavemen characters to a company called Management 360, and the ad guy who created and wrote the spots is a co-developer/executive producer of the series. Geico at this point seems to have little to do with the sitcom, and for that, they should be thrilled. To answer your first question: While there may have been other shows derived from a successful ad, the first (and most recent) one that comes to mind is CBS' ill-fated and mercifully short-lived sitcom
