Question: Grounded for Life ...

Question:
Grounded for Life is my guilty pleasure and it infuriates me that one of the funnier kids, Henry, has gone missing with no explanation. Could you explain the reason writers feel the need to take younger children off shows? Family Matters, Life with Bonnie, and now Grounded for Life. Why do writers introduce these poor kids to begin with, only to take them out of the picture with absolutely no explanation?! — Heather

Matt:
Well, in this case, young Jake Burbage (who played Henry, and quite charmingly, I might add) moved back east with his family, I've been told. (I guess no one expected Grounded for Life to last this long.) Instead of writing him out, which would be awkward, or recasting the role, which might look even more heartless, they're just carrying on this season with one fewer kid. Not a perfect solution, maybe, but who'd get in the way of a kid getting back to his real life?
