Oops! Zooey Deschanel Captioned as Boston Marathon Bombing Suspect

Who's that girl? It's ... the Boston Marathon bomber? During the intense lockdown and manhunt for the Boston Marathon bombing suspects Friday, a local Fox affiliate in Dallas, Texas misidentified one of the suspects as none other than New Girl star Zooey Deschanel. The closed-captioning error came as the station was attempting to name Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the second suspect in the attack who was being hunted by police on Friday.

"He is 19-year-old Zooey Deschanel," the caption faux pas read.

A television viewer spotted the error and posted it to Twitter with the caption, "Oh come on, Fox," where it was immediately retweeted and passed along to other social media sites. Eventually, it caught the attention of Deschanel herself, who tweeted: "Whoa! Epic closed captioning FAIL."

Tsarnaev was apprehended by police Friday evening and remains in stable condition but is unable to communicate at a Boston hospital. His older brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who is thought to have been the mastermind of the attack, was killed in a shootout with police early Friday morning.
