Zach Sobiech, who wrote the viral farewell song "Clouds," lost his battle with bone cancer Monday morning. He was 18.
The Children's Cancer Research Fund shared the news on its website, writing: "Zach was at home and at peace with those he loved most. Zach's life ended just as he lived, embraced by the love of his family, friends, grace and music."
Sobiech, who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma when he was 14, was told last June that he had only one year to live. On Dec. 5, the Minnesota high school senior posted a farewell song, "Clouds," on YouTube. It has since reached more than three millions views and landed him a songwriting contract with BMI. It even inspired The Office's Rainn Wilson to lead fellow celebs in a lip-sync tribute to Sobiech's song just two weeks ago.
