Witches of East End Boss: There Is More Than One Major Death in the Finale

Two worlds are about to converge on the season finale of Witches of East End.

On the penultimate episode, Joanna (Julia Ormond) destroyed the key to Asgard, the world from which she and her family of witches came. But when a mysterious — and very curious — man named Mike (Enver Gjokaj) showed up to Ingrid's (Rachel Boston) library, he revealed that not only is there a second key located in Fair Haven, but that the key is Ingrid herself. Will Mike use Ingrid to get to the other side? Will Penelope (Virginia Madsen) destroy her son's wedding to Freya (Jenna Dewan-Tatum) so that she can return home to Asgard and reunite with Archibald (Matthew Del Negro)? And will the Beauchamp girls work with their newly discovered father to save everyone? We checked in with both Boston and executive producer Maggie Friedman who answered our burning questions heading into finale.

Ingrid and Freya just met their father, but weren't happy to see him. How important is he in this episode?
Maggie Friedman: He plays a very pivotal role in the finale and he brings a plot twist with him in the finale. In the future, who knows? Ingrid has not quite forgiven him, but they do come together in the finale and have a scene between the two of them that's quite important.

Rachel Boston: Now that her father is back, Ingrid has to find a way to connect with him and find a way to forgive him to see if he could possibly help. It's nice to have someone to be safe with and talk about what and who we are, so I think she's trying to figure out that relationship and work on forgiveness in the finale.

What's the deal with Mike? Is he good or bad?
Friedman: I think he's determined and sincere in his desires. There are a few twists in regards to his character.

Boston: He is definitely a big part of the revelation of who Ingrid is who the Beauchamp family is and he guides us even though we find out he's on a much deeper journey than we first expected. He guides us to where we're going to end off in the season finale and he's a guide to show Ingrid who she is and what she can become.

2013 Fall TV Report Card: How's the new class doing?

The episode is centered on Freya and Dash's (Eric Winter) wedding. Will Freya go through with it and is Dash's brother Killian (Daniel Di Tomasso) really leaving?
Friedman: At the wedding, Penelope's entire plan that she's been cooking up will come to fruition and it's big and there's a battle; it's pretty action-packed. We outdid ourselves out there. Things will come to a head in the love triangle and between Dash and Killian in a major and surprising way. And Killian is definitely packing up his boat in the [episode]!

Boston: What alarms Ingrid [about the brothers] is that one is Freya's soul mate and one is the destroyer. Ingrid wants her sister to be safe, so she'll go to any lengths to make that possible, but with matters of the heart, it's her choice and Ingrid has to be supportive of which direction she chooses.

Will more mythology surrounding Asgard be revealed?
Friedman: One of the mythology things we'll delve into in the finale is that we'll see a piece of a past life that is game-changing in terms of the present. We love watching the characters explore their past and a great part of the show is getting to see them in their different lives and different time periods and so there will be a lot more of that coming up.

TV Couples: Hot or not?

What will Wendy's (Madchen Amick) involvement be in the finale?
Friedman: We'll see the cat! Wendy and Joanna definitely band together to battle with Penelope. They pull together to fight her and it's pretty epic and Wendy is a little skeptical about whether they can pull it off but she dives in.

I personally love Wendy. Did you think she'd be so popular among viewers?
Friedman: I didn't know she'd be the breakout character. I think she's a really fun character to write for because she says what she means and does what she wants and is really out there and free-spirited and brash and funny. When I was writing her in the pilot it was fun, but Madchen brings so much to the table and elevates it. What you see on screen so much of that is Madchen because she's a really spirited, funny, no bullsh-- person, and she brings a lot to the role. It really makes me happy people love her because she's really close to my heart and a fun character I aspire to be like and a lot of people I think would love to have her tenacity and bravery. 

Give us your final tease for the finale. 
Friedman: I can tell you that there is more than one major death.

Boston: Ingrid finds her strength and turns into a badass. To go from at the beginning where she was so quiet and figuring out who she was to this woman who is really empowered has been a really wonderful journey to play. In the finale, she's asked to be the one to stand up and the audience is really going to enjoy watching that. The last five minutes will really shock you and [it] ends with the Beauchamp women looking into this beautiful opening for all that we can explore in Season 2.
