Will William Shatner be boarding the Enterprise again? Well... he's not really sure.

Star Trek fans believe that Shatner could very well turn up in the third film in J.J. Abrams' rebooted franchise, after reports from last year suggested that he'd be sharing a scene with young Kirk, played by Chris Pine.

At Comic-Con, an audience member asked the actor if those rumors were true. Shatner responded by telling a story about Abrams approaching him to appear in the 2009 Star Trek film, with the director swearing Shatner to secrecy (well, cat's out of the bag now). Shatner had been on vacation when he received the call, and upon returning to Los Angeles, he was accosted in the airport by a reporter who claimed to have details of the scene in question.

Abrams then called Shatner, believing that he'd leaked the information.

"This reporter knew more about it than I did," Shatner said at the Comic-Con panel. "So back to you, my friend! What do you know? Am I in the next movie? Tell me!"

While it might not be the answer we wanted to hear, he definitely sounds interested.
