Stars at Sunday's VMAs came out dressed for an event notorious for wild and crazy fashions, including Lady Gaga's carnivorous costume, Ke$ha's garbage bag-looking dress, and Katy Perry's explosion of black and white.

What you didn't see on TV at the Video Music Awards

MTV set the experimental tone — and the color scheme — by opting for a pre-show white carpet instead of the usual red. Stars responded with grey, black and charcoal combinations that played dramatically off the walkway.
