Jennifer Lopez is setting the record straight about rumors she and rapper beau Sean "Puffy" Combs have sent out wedding invitations and are on the verge of tying the knot. The actress/singer tells TV Guide Online that, contrary to reports, a wedding is

not imminent. "We have a relationship and we're taking it day by day," she says. "A lot of it is just rumors and speculation." Meanwhile, The Catholic League is up in arms over Lopez's soon-to-be-released thriller, The Cell. Specifically, the group is protesting a sequence in which her character appears draped in white cloth à la the Virgin Mary. "The costumer based that on a Brazilian sea goddess," Lopez argues. "It was this beautiful image and they decided to go with that for the mothering-type character in that section of the movie. There are no crosses, there's nothing Catholic or religious about it. I'm Catholic. They should just relax." Responds Patrick Scully, the Catholic League's communications director: "Many, many times Catholics will ridicule their own church for reasons only they know. The fact is, [the scene] is another example of Hollywood taking a cheap shot at the Catholic church. What's next? Puff Daddy as John the Baptist?"
