Prison Inmate Confesses to Involvement in 1994 Tupac Shakur Shooting

A man in prison says he was involved in the November 1994 robbery and shooting of Tupac Shakur, AllHipHop.com reports.

Dexter Isaac, an inmate currently serving life in prison for murder, robbery and other offenses, came forward with his confession on Wednesday — the day before what would have been Shakur's 40th birthday.

Isaac said he was paid $2,500 by James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond, an entertainment mogul, for the robbery and shooting. Isaac said he confessed to prove Rosemond's involvement and to clear his own conscience. According to his confession, Isaac also knows what happened to Shakur's jewelry and claims he is in possession of a chain that was taken.

That attack, in which Shakur was shot five times, is considered by many to be the start of the East Coast-West Coast rap war that resulted in the murders of Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. Their murders remain unsolved. Shakur was shot four times in September 1996 and died six days later.

"I want to apologize to [Tupac Shakur's] family and for the mistake I did for that sucker [Jimmy Henchman]," Isaac told AllHipHop.com from prison. "I am trying to clean it up to give [Tupac and Biggie's] mothers some closure."
