Since there was no longer a ticking clock on saving her friends, Sookie asks Warlow to be courted by him first before surrendering herself to be his vampire-faerie bride. But instead of agreeing, Warlow slaps Sookie across the face — finally showing his true colors that he just wants to use Sookie for sex and to drink her blood.
Meanwhile, the returning vamps are having a blast being in the sun again, romping to '20s music and playing volleyball in the yard of the Compton mansion — and also wearing bright colors you'd never think you'd see on Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten). But she's one of the few vamps not having fun, as she decides to go after Eric (Alexander Skarsgard), who disappeared after essentially destroying the vampire internment camp in the penultimate episode.
Since Bill (Stephen Moyer) no longer has his abilities after giving up his blood to save the interned vamps, Jason (Ryan Kwanten) must enlist Andy's (Chris Bauer) fae daughter to enter the faerie plane to save Sookie's life. The group is able to rescue Sookie as Bill fights Warlow to distract him, but he takes the fight straight to Sookie's home, which Bill cannot enter. Fortunately, Niall (Rutger Hauer) returns from the plane in which he was banished by Warlow, helping Jason to finally kill Warlow once and for all.

But when Warlow dies, so does the magical blood within our favorite vampires, which is most unfortunate for Eric, who was sunbathing on top of an icy mountain in Sweden before exploding into a ball of fire. Yikes!
Six months down the line, Hepatitis-V has spread throughout the world, but Bill Compton does his part to get the word out there with his new book, And God Bled. The community is banding together in hopes of helping each other survive, since packs of vampires now roam the world seeking to feed on humans. At the church in Bon Temps, they perform blood tests to figure out which humans are not carriers of Hep-V to see if they will pair with vampires to feed them in exchange for protection.
At a party held at Bellefleur's, formerly Merlotte's, Tara (Rutina Wesley) reconciles with her mother (Adina Porter), off of whom she feeds. Violet (Karolina Wydra) continues to be jealous of every woman who comes near Jason, even though the duo still haven't had sex. But Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) misses the party and goes to Andy's house to offer protection for him and his fae daughter, giving him the chance to take her life, but he decides against it. Sookie has also reconnected with Alcide (Joe Manganiello), who looks much less like a homeless bear now. Though Bill offers her protection, she declines. But the whole town may need his protection as a horde of blood-thirsty vampires head toward the party.
