Tracee Ellis Ross has spoken up to clarify the status of her renegotiation process for her black-ishcontract, after a report in The Hollywood Reporterrevealed that Ross's paychecks are significantly less than co-star Anthony Anderson.

Initial reports indicated that she may limit the amount of episodes she would appear in during the show's fifth season if her salary did not match Anderson's, but Ross clarified the process in a Twitter post Saturday night, writing, "I wanted to be compensated in a way that matches my contribution to a show I love for many reasons, including the opportunity it allows me to reshape what it is to be a fully realized black woman on TV. The words and thoughts that were in the original article were not mine; there were never any threats."

Even though she takes issue with the exact description of the issue contained in the article and its resulting conversations, Ross added, "Having had my renegotiation become a public conversation was awkward, but I'm grateful for the outpouring of support. I'm truly thankful that important conversations are taking place about fighting for women's worth and equality, and tightening the pay gap in every industry."

Black-ish airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on ABC.
