Top Model's Shameful Fantasies
Hey, reality-TV wannabes! Let today's Insider be a lesson to you. If you go on America's Next Top Model and try to rise above the catty drama, you'll end up flying below Tyra's radar. That's how North Dakotan Nicole Borud, 21, got cut. "I'm not a reclusive wallflower like they portrayed me," she tells TV Guide Online. "I like to speak about things that are meaningful, not just talk to waste oxygen, so I really didn't get involved with the petty drama. That's not fun. Yaya commented that it was like high school again. It's appalling to see grown women acting that way." Uh, girlfriend clearly mistook the dramafest for a real modeling contest. Here, we explore where she went wrong — and uncover the X-rated fantasy that could've saved her skin!
TV Guide Online: Tyra called you "blah" and said you lack mass appeal.
Nicole Borud: That's Tyra's opinion, not the rest of the world's. I don't get too disheartened. The judges don't know me as well as the girls in the house. Ann said she didn't get it when they said I have no personality. I think any little excuse is good enough for them to get rid of someone.
TVGO: So all the interesting footage of you hit the cutting-room floor?
Nicole: There's a lot they didn't show. Kelle said my singing made her laugh her ass off. Amanda always came up and asked me to sing her a song because we couldn't listen to the radio or watch TV. (Laughs) I guess they couldn't show me singing because they'd have to buy the rights to the songs!
TVGO: In acting class, you looked inside yourself and saw nothing. Then, you revealed that what you saw was too inappropriate to say. What was it?
Nicole: Now is not the time, either. It's still inappropriate and that's all you need to know. I have little sisters and brothers. Maybe if this interview was on The Playboy Channel, I could say...
TVGO: Was it good inappropriate or bad inappropriate?
Nicole: Um, both. It depends...
TVGO: Were you thinking about a guy?
Nicole: Yeah.
TVGO: Someone you know?
Nicole: It's someone I do know. I have no idea why, but I closed my eyes [in acting class] and thought, "Oh! Well, I know where my mind is."
TVGO: Top Model is a rough contest. Perhaps you were just craving some stress relief?
Nicole: Yeah, it's true. You're surrounded by girls you're competing against for two or three months, and you're going crazy. All you need is some good release, and it just won't happen. Not in that environment.
TVGO: But there are men around... Past contestants have taken advantage of that.
Nicole: My boyfriend and I have an agreement [to be monogamous]. It takes more than a hot model guy to really get me excited.
TVGO: Too bad you didn't partake of forbidden fruit. You could've been this season's Shandi!
Nicole: (Laughs) Well, she got to go to Italy. We went to Japan. I think if I was in Italy, I could've made the same mistake. I love Italian culture and men. That would definitely be my weakness.
