The Season 2 curtain opens on the character-driven dramedy about three best buds trying to negotiate the turns, curves and zigzags of middle age. And they are making some progress. A resolute Joe makes it his goal to sharpen his golfing skills, but he can't hack having to practice at dawn. He's also teed off that his new home just happens to be in his former bookie's neighborhood. As for Owen, he moves up to manager of the family auto dealership, but with new responsibility comes new stress. Owen has hired Terry to sell cars, but Terry seems to be stalling out while on the 9-to-5 job. — Dean Maurer

Trace Adkins hosts the first annual fan-voted awards gala from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and is also slated to perform. Set to join him in making a joyful noise tonight are Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Easton Corbin, Toby Keith, the Band Perry, Rascal Flatts, Reba, Blake Shelton, Steel Magnolia, Josh Turner, Uncle Kracker and inaugural Greatest Hits Award recipient Alan Jackson. Lady Antebellum and Easton Corbin lead the field with seven nominations each. — Fred Mitchell

NBC's holiday a cappella singing competition is back for another round as 10 new groups compete for a recording contract and $100,000. The five-night event kicks off with a collaboration between the groups on Kiki Dee's "I've Got the Music in Me" before individual performances. Nick Lachey returns as the host, along with last year's judges, Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman and Nicole Scherzinger. — Brie Hearn

Martha's Holiday Open House8/7c HallmarkMartha Stewart gets in the holiday spirit by inviting viewers into her home for a first-hand look at how she prepares for the holidays. Jennifer Garner is also on hand to demonstrate how to make cream-cheese bow cookies, and Claire Danes pitches in to decorate and make ornamets. The festivities don't end there, however: Immediately following, Lucinda Scala Quinn's "Mad Hungry for the Holidays" airs. — Brie HearnMonday Night Football8:30/7:30c ESPN In this much-anticipated meeting of the Jets and the Patriots, the winner takes the crown of AFC king of the hill--for a week, at least. With both teams sitting at a conference-leading 9-2, it's a bit too early to call this game crucial, but it could certainly have playoff implications...especially if the Jets win this one in New England and sweep their division rivals. New York's Mark Sanchez had one of his good weeks in September, when he threw 3 TD passes in a 28-14 win over the Pats in the Meadowlands. — Dave Roeder

And Cake Boss Buddy Valastro is looking for top talent, so he's putting 10 rising bakers to the test in this new spin-off, where they'll vie for a chance to work at his famous Hoboken, N.J., bakery. In the series opener, the hopefuls are tasked with creating elaborate celebration cakes that showcase both their baking and decorating skills. One thing is certain: This competition will be no piece of cake. — Karen Kelty
