The con is on when Michael joins forces with Jim and Dwight to set up an elaborate, shadowy sting in an effort to unearth the pilferer's sales secrets. The thread of Season 8 episodes begins unspooling to its end in Part 1 of the two-part finale. The Big Apple inspired the clothiers last week, yet young April didn't have a New York state of mind and was ousted, leaving the final fab four — Michael C., Mondo, Andy and Gretchen — to battle it out for Fashion Week honors. Now they're under the Gunn. Tonight, mentor Tim Gunn visits them in their hometowns to review the progress of their collections, but evidently they're not making it work. The usually agreeable Gunn must be cruel to be kind, criticizing their work as "a truly hot mess" and a "teen's pajama." Could it be coming apart at the seams for our finalists? — Dean Maurer
