Robbie Amell, Peyton List
It didn't take long before The Tomorrow People brought Cara (Peyton List) and Stephen (Robbie Amell) together. The dynamic duo shared a steamy kiss — and eventually more — at the close of last week's episode, but don't expect a happy ending so soon. Cara will almost immediately regret her actions since she's still with John (Luke Mitchell).
The Tomorrow People: Is Stephen's big secret blown?
"It's a tough situation because we need Stephen," List tells TVGuide.com of the potential to damage Cara and Stephen's relationship so quickly. "John even needs Stephen if we're going to find Stephen's father and be led to a safe place, so we all have to work together. As much as we want to behave like adults and push all of our feelings aside and deal with the task at hand, it does complicate how we interact."
In fact, Amell teases that John and Stephen "are heading towards a falling out" only made worse by Stephen's need to take a break from both Ultra and the Tomorrow People following his disastrous fling with Cara and the death of his partner.
"Stephen's in a horrible place from stuff that's happened, and he has to take a step away and Jedikiah [Mark Pellegrino] obliges," Amell says. Stephen will use this time away to live more like a normal teenager — one who just happens to have powers. "He uses his powers like any 18-year-old kid would: He uses them to be the cool guy in school," Amell says. "Astrid [Madeleine Mantock] even makes a joke about Stephen living his own '80s movie."
Tomorrow People's Aaron Yoo: Russell uses his humor to hide a dark secret
But not all hope is lost for Stephen and Cara since the latter now knows the truth that John can kill. "It is a big secret," List says. "It will change the dynamic quite a bit. These people bond together because of their similarities. He's probably kept it a secret for a reason."
