Tom Cruise's Lawyer Talks Suri and Scientology in Settlement

Tom Cruise's lawyer says that the actor's main concern in his divorce negotiations with Katie Holmes was their daughter Suri.
"Tom was always most interested in his child," Bert Fields tells People. "His concern was for Suri. He will have a meaningful relationship with Suri."
Fields negotiated the divorce settlement that granted Holmes primary custody and gave the actor generous visitation rights with the 6-year-old. While Fields doesn't know when Cruise will be visiting his daughter next, he thinks it will be "very soon."

Fields also denied reports that Scientology played a large role in the settlement. "Somebody said the Scientologists were directing negotiations, and that is absolute hogwash. There was no Scientologist present, I wasn't on the phone with Scientologists. Scientologists played no part of role in the negotiations between the lawyers.
Suri is currently in New York City with Holmes, while Cruise continues filming overseas.
