Amid all the turmoil and bad publicity caused by his separation from wife Maria Shriver and revelations that he fathered a child out of wedlock, Arnold Schwarzenegger still has someone he can count on: longtime pal Tom Arnold.
"I'm his friend and I'm here for him," Arnold told Hollywood 411 at the 10th Anniversary Chrysalis Butterfly Ball Saturday. "Same goes for Maria and the kids. They know it and that's all that matters. They have been there for me in my worst times and that's the kind of people they are."
Schwarzenegger, who first shared the screen with Arnold in1994's True Lies, has been in the news for weeks. Less than two weeks after announcing his separation from Shriver following 25 years of marriage and four children, it was revealed that the action star had fathered a child with a member of his household staff. Since the news broke, the former California governor has put all his future entertainment jobs — including another Terminator sequel — on hold.
Arnold said his lunch with Schwarzenegger earlier in the week went well. The only unusual thing? This time, Arnold footed the bill, not Schwarzenegger.
"He's not working right now and I got to take care of the guy," Arnold said. "He's got a whole squad he goes out with and I'm sure he gets sick of it."
Schwarzenegger has largely kept out of the public eye since the news broke, but Arnold revealed his friend plans to break his silence. "He's going to go on TV at some time and deal with this."
Hollywood 411 airs Sunday night at 7/6c on TV Guide Network.
