TNT to Debut All Elite Wrestling Weekly Matches in October

There's a new pro wrestling league muscling its way into the TV scene. WarnerMedia announced on Wednesday that the new league All Elite Wrestling (AEW) will join the current cable wrestling renaissance by launching two-hour weekly matches on TNT, beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

The first match will take place in Washington, D.C.'s Capital One Arena, but each week will see the league travel to different cities across the nation. The AEW is founded by President and CEO Tony Khan and is headlined by Cody and Brandi Rhodes, The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson), Kenny Omega, Hangman Adam Page, Chris Jericho, and Jon Moxley, who is just one of the several wrestlers who left the WWE for AEW. Other AEW competitors include Nyla Rose, Awesome Kong, Dustin Rhodes, Jungle Boy, Dr. Britt Baker, MJF, and SCU. Legendary commentator Jim Ross will be part of the AEW as well.

The company boasts that AEW will focus on athleticism and high-octane competitions but also give its wrestlers freedom to explore their characters. AEW's matches will also introduce the use of statistics throughout the matches to help track each wrestler's wins and losses and analyze their moves throughout the fights.

WarnerMedia first began streaming All Elite Wrestling's initial matches in May on Bleacher Report's live site, airing live from Las Vegas, Daytona Beach, and Jacksonville. The next live event will be streamed on the same site on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 8/7c, from Sears Center in Chicago.

All Elite Wrestling's new televised match series will premiere on TNT on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 8/7c.
