Thor hammered out the top spot at the weekend box office, Box Office Mojo reports.
The superhero film, starring newcomer Chris Hemsworth, and Oscar winners Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins, grossed an estimated $66 million in its opening weekend.
Fast Five speeds to $83 million; becomes biggest April opening ever
Last week's record-breaking No. 1 film, Fast Five, parked in the second spot with $32.5 million. In just two weeks, the film has sped to nearly $140 million.
In the battle of the new romantic comedies, Jumping the Broom narrowly beat Something Borrowed. The former came in third and drew $13.7 million, while the latter attracted $13.1 million and ranked fourth.
Rio completed the top 5, taking in $8.2 million. It now totals some $114.9 million.
At No. 6, Water for Elephants earned $5.6 million. Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family followed, garnering $3.9 million.
Rounding out the top 10: Prom (No. 8, $2.4 million), Soul Surfer (No. 9, $2.1 million) and Hoodwinked Too! (No. 10, $1.9 million).
