One of the best things about The Walking Dead Season 9 so far is the fact that Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) is talking again in addition to fighting. In this exclusive clip from Episode 2, "The Bridge," he gets to do both! It's the best of both Daryl worlds.

The clip starts with Daryl and Aaron (Ross Marquand) shooting the breeze while working on repairing the episode's titular bridge. It's the most we've seen these two interact in a long time, maybe ever, and it's nice. Aaron tells Daryl about his diaper-related misadventures in being a single dad to Grace, the baby he adopted after Rick (Andrew Lincoln) made her an orphan last season. He says that Daryl would make a great dad. Daryl's like "yeah, right," but now that that idea is out in the world, we'll see what happens with it.

Meanwhile, Henry (Macsen Lintz) is being the water boy to the workers. And bull terrier-faced disgruntled former Savior Justin (Zach McGowan) is taking more than his fair share and being a real jerk about it. So Henry takes his knees out with his staff. Justin's been embarrassed, and that will not stand, so he's gonna have to beat up the kid.

Daryl sees what's going on, and stands up for Henry. "Kid's just doing his job," Daryl growls to Justin. "Get back to work."

"I don't need you people telling me what to do," Justin spits back. "You're not my babysitter anymore." As he turns around to follow after Henry, Daryl grabs him again, and Justin comes back with a haymaker. Daryl knocks him down into a pile of sand, and Justin grabs and handful and throws it in Daryl's face, blinding him.

As for what happens next, well, you're gonna have to watch The Walking Dead Sunday at 9/8c on AMC.
