Do you believe any of them?

[Warning: The following contains spoilers for the season premiere of Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists! Read at your own risk!]

The first episode of Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists ended with a murder. Nolan Hotchkiss (Chris Mason) was found impaled by an iron fence in the episode's penultimate scene and there are too many suspects to count. Series creator I. Marlene King confirmed that Nolan is really dead, but we still have so many questions about who could have pushed him off the roof of that Beacon Heights University building.

Nolan's final moments saw him apologizing for "being such a dick" and admitting that his sister Taylor (Hayley Erin) was still alive as he asked a shadowy figure for help in exposing Hotchkiss Industries for spying on the students of BHU. His killer wasn't interested in that plot and decided to push Nolan to his death instead, but who could that person be? Taylor is the only one with a logical defense because why would Nolan announce her faked death if she was the one walking toward him? Even then, Taylor could have been wearing a mask (which is very popular in the PLL universe), so legitimately everyone is a suspect.

To help weed out all of the possibilities, TV Guide asked The Perfectionists cast to explain why they couldn't have been the one to kill Nolan. To be frank, we're not sure you can believe any of them, but let us know what you think of their reasons below.

Allyson Riggs, Freeform

Taylor
Relationship to Nolan:
Sister
Motive: She didn't want him telling anyone that she was still alive.
Defense:
"She was really far away in a cabin!" Erin said, logically.

Ava (Sofia Carson)
Relationship to Nolan:
Secret girlfriend
Motive: He cheated on her and was SO disrespectful about it.
Defense:"I think of the three perfectionists, Ava really did truly love Nolan. He was the only thing she had in her life since she was abandoned by her parents. I think that's a strong enough alibi," Carson pleaded.

Caitlin (Sydney Park)
Relationship to Nolan:
Fake girlfriend/childhood friend
Motive: Nolan was blackmailing her and he died in the exact way she described she wanted him to die.
Defense: "Caitlin has a really big heart. She has grown up with Nolan. Out of all the characters, she really knows him the best," Park said earnestly, "I don't think she could be that cruel. I know she wants him to go away, but I don't think she would wish that on anyone."

Dylan (Eli Brown)
Relationship to Nolan:
Secret hook-up
Motive: Nolan was also blackmailing Dylan into doing his and Ava's homework.
Defense: "He's got too much to lose! He wouldn't risk his cello fingers. He was probably at cello practice so he couldn't have done it," Brown explained. Hopefully, there's footage to back this up.

The Perfectionists Cast Plays Who Said It: A Disney Villain or a Pretty Little Liar?

Claire (Kelly Rutherford)
Relationship to Nolan:
Mother
Motive: He and Taylor were trying to expose her and her alleged crimes to the world
Defense: "You can suspect her!...You don't know. That's the beauty of this show and this genre. It's kind of like life in that we don't aways know the answers. I'm old enough to know it's better not to defend yourself," Rutherford offered, making us seriously wonder if Nolan was killed by his own mother.

Jeremy (Graeme Thomas King)
Relationship to Nolan:
Caitlin's real boyfriend
Motive: Nolan was stopping Caitlin and Jeremy from being together openly
Defense: "He's such a nice guy, and he's English! I'm aware [that British guys don't have a good history on PLL]. He's got too much to lose. I can't really give you a good defense, besides that he's a really nice guy," King offered, already aware we think he's The Perfectionists' Wren (Julian Morris).

The Perfectionists continues Wednesdays at 8/7c on Freeform.
