Everything We Know About The Originals Season 5

The break between The Originals Season 4 and Season 5 has lasted so long you can barely get away with calling it a hiatus at this point. We're reaching the tail end of the wait until the final season premieres though, so it's time to brush up on what to expect from this last hurrah of the Mikaelsons.

Spoilers and hints are spread far and wide all over the Internet, which is why we've consolidated all of them here for you.

Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) are estranged. Even though Klaus can't physically be present in his daughter's life thanks to the Hollow, he should still have been able to keep in contact with her from afar. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be how things played out, since Klaus cut off all contact with his daughter a few years before Season 5 picks up. It's a problem she's tenaciously trying to remedy though, and Hope is one Mikaelson you really don't want to underestimate.

Hayley's (Phoebe Tonkin) got a new calling and a new man. Hayley and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) ended their tragic romance in Season 4, and when we pick back up with Hayley, she'll be making eyes at a new character named Declan (Torrance Coombs). We can't rule out a Haylijah reconciliation before the end, but it's probably best to remain skeptical about any rekindling of romance between them. Luckily, Hayley will have bigger problems than her romantic woes in Season 5, given how involved she will have become in keeping the peace within the supernatural community of New Orleans during the time jump.

Caroline Forbes (Candice King) will cross over. Caroline's story may have ended on The Vampire Diaries, but she'll be getting an epilogue of sorts on The Originals this season. She'll appear in at least three episodes, the first being the premiere, which finds Caroline and Klaus in Europe. She'll be counseling him on how to be a better parent to Hope, and while there's no telling if sparks will fly between these two again, given their palpable chemistry it would almost be more surprising if something didn't go down.

The Originals: Is There Hope for Hayley and Elijah?

Kol (Nate Buzolic) and Davina (Danielle Campbell) are married. The last shot of Kol from Season 4 was of him purchasing a diamond engagement ring for Davina, so it should be no surprise that he'll be enjoying a whole lot of marital bliss when Season 5 opens. It's only a matter of time, however, before Mikaelson family drama interrupts that bliss and pulls him back into the supernatural turmoil of New Orleans.

Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) isn't done with New Orleans. He may have followed Rebekah (Claire Holt) to New York City to try to make a go of their happily ever after, but Marcel's heart will always belong (in part) to New Orleans. Unfortunately, Rebekah's not exactly the type who likes to share, so that will be a point of contention between them in Season 5.

Amnesiac Elijah will take center stage. The third episode of Season 5 will focus almost entirely on Elijah and his "lost years" as an amnesiac vampire. It sounds like his amnesia runs deeper than anyone anticipated though, even going so far as to wipe his understanding of not just who he is, but what he is. We'll also be meeting a new friend of his named Antoniette (Jaime Murray), who sounds like serious trouble.

Familiar faces will appear in the series finale. Both Leah Pipes and Sebastian Roche, who played Cami and Mikael respectively, were seen on set during The Originals series finale filming. Given that they're both dead, we'll either be getting some ghostly visitors in the finale or some sort of hallucination/vision. Either way, it looks like The Originals is going for something really big in the final season.

The Originals premieres April 18 at 9/8c on The CW.
