Report: The Office May Get a Reboot

Mindy Kaling

Is The Office getting a reboot?

According to Deadline, executive producer Greg Daniels may launch a new version of the show with existing characters as well as new ones if it is renewed for a ninth season. Daniels is planning to meet with the network about the idea.

Does The Office Face Another Restructure?

The comedy is still in a transitional period following the departure of lead Steve Carell last season. James Spader, who became a regular this year, announced in February that he will leave at the end of the season, while stars John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Ed Helms and B.J. Novak are all in the midst of negotiating new contracts. Among the sticking points for Krasinski and Helms: the number of episodes to sign up for, since they both have films lined up. Additionally, Mindy Kaling's pilot at Fox — in which Helms has a role — is likely to go to series and an Office spin-off starring Dwight (Rainn Wilson) is tentatively set to launch in early 2013.
