The Muppets Showrunner Exits the Series

Bob Kushell is leaving The Muppets, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

The showrunner of the ABC revival reportedly had creative differences with executive producer and fellow co-creator Bill Prady, according toThe Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the news. Sources say it's possible Galavant's Kristin Newman will take over showrunning duties, but nothing has been finalized.

Last week, ABC gave a 16-episode full season order to The Muppets, which follows Kermit and the gang as they produce Miss Piggy's late-night talk show. The mockementary comedy has averaged 7.6 million viewers since its premiere and joinsDr. Ken and Quanticoas new shows ABC has picked up for full seasons this year.

The Muppets airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC.
