The Man in the High Castle, Amazon's alternate history sci-fi Nazi show based on the Philip K. Dick novel, finally has a Season 3 premiere date - Oct. 5 - and maybe there won't be as long a wait between seasons next time, because it's already been picked up for Season 4, TVLine reports.

Season 2 premiered way back in December 2016 after a troubled production where creator Frank Spotnitz quit halfway through and the season was finished without a showrunner. For Season 3, Bosch executive producer Eric Overmeyer took over.

Amazon doesn't release viewer numbers, but has said that the Season 2 premiere of The Man in the High Castle had the best debut weekend of any of its scripted series. The studio is in flux right now under new head Jennifer Salke after last year's ouster of president Roy Price amidst a sexual harassment scandal that included him making inappropriate comments to Man in the High Castle EP Isa Dick Hackett, and it's moving away from niche projects to expensive genre fare like The Expanse and Lord of the Rings. But this renewal shows The Man in the High Castle still fits in the new vision for Amazon.

The Man in the High Castle Season 3 premieres Friday, Oct. 5 on Amazon Prime. Watch a teaser for the new season:
