The Following: Who's a Follower?

With all the twists and turns that have marked The Following's first season, we wouldn't be surprised if creator Kevin Williamson doesn't sneak in another twist in the show's final two episodes. Like... a mole in the FBI perhaps? We know Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) was able to infiltrate local law enforcement with Roderick (Warren Kole) and also put Molly (Jennifer Ferrin) in place to keep an eye on Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon). But who else is in on it? We break down the most likely suspects:

With all the twists and turns that have marked The Following's first season, we wouldn't be surprised if creator Kevin Williamson doesn't sneak in another twist in the show's final two episodes. Like... a mole in the FBI perhaps? We know Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) was able to infiltrate local law enforcement with Roderick (Warren Kole) and also put Molly (Jennifer Ferrin) in place to keep an eye on Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon). But who else is in on it? We break down the most likely suspects:

VIDEO: Kevin Bacon teases "vulnerabilities" in Joe Carroll's plan

Claire Matthews (Natalie Zea): Claire pretty much solidified her place in the Good Guys' camp last night when she stabbed Joe out of nowhere. (Least romantic kiss ever?!) But you never know. She did a really good job of acting like she was willing to stay with Joe forever and ever prior to the unexpected shanking.
Odds of Being a Follower: 50-1

Mike Weston (Shawn Ashmore): After the beating he suffered at the hands of Roderick and the other Followers a few episodes ago, we'd be pretty shocked if Weston was actually Team Killers. While it was a little suspicious that he let Roderick walk out of the police station in Monday's episode without shooting him there on the spot, Weston had Ryan Hardy's back the whole time he was going after Joey.
Odds of Being a Follower: 40-1

The Following's Warren Kole: "Roderick is a big threat to Joe"

Nick Donovan (Mike Colter): Let's examine the case against Donovan. He was sent in basically to wrest Joe Carroll's case out of the hands of Parker and Hardy, both of whom were getting too personally involved. Was it a coincidence that Weston was kidnapped mere minutes after Donovan sent him home for insubordination? We're skeptical. And sure, Donovan may have been stabbed in the eye by a Follower in Monday's episode, but who's to say she didn't just go after the wrong agent?
Odds of Being a Follower: 10-1

Debra Parker (Annie Parisse): We know that Parker grew up in a cult, so could she still find herself drawn to that lifestyle? And was her slipping a book to Joe Carroll on the sly when he was still in prison just part of a Good Cop act, or was there something more behind it? Maybe the FBI's incompetence, especially early on in the season, was a reflection of Parker's true loyalties.
Odds of Being a Follower: 5-1

TV Scorecard: What's renewed? What's canceled?

Diedre Mitchell (Chinasa Ogbuagu): Confession: We had to look up this character's name, but viewers will know her as the other FBI agent who occasionally has lines in the show and is often seen tap-tapping away on a computer in the background. After all, it's always the quiet ones ...
Odds of Being a Follower: 5-1
