We've been promised one heck of a cliffhanger in the Season 5 finale of The Blacklist, and it's one that won't be left unresolved.

NBC has renewed The Blacklist for 22 episodes, TV Guide has learned. The decision comes less than a week before Wednesday's Season 5 finale.

Though The Blacklist is far from its heyday of huge ratings, NBC is touting its improvement in the Wednesday at 8 p.m. timeslot, where it's up almost 20 percent over what Blindspot did in the same spot a year before. Previously, The Blacklist aired Thursday nights at 10 p.m.

The news is great news for fans, as we should finally get an answer to the season's big question: whose bones are in that bag that Red (James Spader) wants so badly? We're going to find out this week, and it's going to push the series in a new direction, apparently.

The Blacklist airs its Season 5 finale on Wednesday, May 16 at 8/7c on NBC.
