New year, new Bachelor. Sort of.

Season 21 of The Bachelor will premiere Monday, Jan. 2 at 8/7c, ABC announced Tuesday. On that night, we'll get to see two-time Bachelorette runner-up Nick Viall restart his search for love in grand fashion. Night 1 is always the most fun episode of the season, with contestants vying for the first impression rose with over-the-top entrances, and you know they're going to go all out for Nick.

Nick was a surprise choice to be this season's Bachelor, beating out contenders from JoJo Fletcher's season of The Bachelorette, thanks to his charismatic showing on this summer's season of Bachelor in Paradise. He previously came in second on Andi Dorfman's and Kaitlyn Bristowe's seasons of The Bachelorette. Both times he was eliminated as he was preparing to propose to the star. Now it's his turn to do the rejecting — and find a wife, too, of course.

Chris Harrison will return as host. The season's contestants will be released at a later date.
