FX has renewed The Americansfor Seasons 5 and 6, which will be the series' last, the network announced Wednesday. The critically-lauded drama will get a 13-episode fifth season in 2017, and will wrap up the story of Russian spies Elizabeth (Keri Russell) and Philip Jennings (Matthew Rhys) with a 10-episode sixth season in 2018. The current fourth season concludes on Wednesday, June 8 at 10/9c on FX.

FX also announced overall deals with executive producers Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields to develop their next series, so they'll stay in the FX fold after The Americans ends.

Weisberg and Fields announced their intentions to end The Americans after five or six seasons during January's TCA previews, saying that the then-upcoming fourth season was the end of the second act of the series' three-act structure.
