For anyone worried about the new Star Wars films, let this news give you a new hope. Tatiana Maslany and Rooney Mara are testing for the female lead in a Star Wars standalone film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The new Star Wars character names have been revealed
In addition to the Orphan Black and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo stars, Felicity Jones is reportedly on the shortlist. However, Jones, who is nominated for an Oscar for Theory of Everything, might have scheduling issues with the Da Vinci Code sequel Inferno.
The spin-off movie will be directed by Godzilla's Gareth Edwards. At this point, no plot or character details have been released. The film is expected to be released in theaters Dec. 16, 2016.
