Syfy has announced two new projects — one a collaboration with auteur M. Night Shyamalan and Buffy the Vampire Slayer writer/producer Marti Noxon, and the other an adaptation of the 1969 sci-fi novel The Lotus Caves.
Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable) and Noxon have teamed up for the drama Proof, about the son of a billionaire who offers a reward to anyone who can find proof of life after death after his parents die in an accident, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Syfy has ordered a pilot, which will mark Shyamalan's first time writing scripted television.

The network has also ordered a 90-minute pilot for High Moon, an adaptation of John Christopher's novel The Lotus Caves, helmed by Bryan Fuller and Jim Danger Gray of Pushing Daisies, as well as veteran producer Robert Halmi Sr., Deadline reports. The young adult novel is set in the future, when humans have formed colonies on Earth and begin to mine resources on the moon, discovering a new life form in the process.
The pilot has been in development at Syfy for two years and is expected to begin production in Vancouver this fall.
