The collaboration was an anxious affair though because he had only met crooner Chester See, musician Mike Tompkins and Epic Rap Battles of History's Nice Peter the night before. "We had no game plan but put everything together last night. It was so sloppy, I can't even tell you," Van Winkle told TVGuide.com. "I lost some sleep over it."

But a good attitude (and some rehearsal time) made all the difference. "They were a little timid. I said, 'This is your time. These are memories that last forever. Make it happen. Own your stage, own everything,'" Van Winkle says. "I took away the nerves and replaced them with smiles. And smiles are contagious, so I had everybody just having a really authentic, great time on stage. We put something together that was magical. I enjoyed the hell out of it. It was electrifying." How did the '90s music star get involved in such an event? Thank Dick Clark Productions for reviving "Ice, Ice, Baby" and "Play That Funky Music" for the YouTube generation. "Dick Clark and I go way back from when I pulled my pants down on national TV to show my scars," Van Winkle explained. "If it could have gone viral then, it would have! It would have been trending. But they got me involved."At least the rapper, who currently stars on DIY's The Vanilla Ice Project (airing Sundays at 10/9c), got a taste of online popularity during the Streamys. "When we were backstage, we were trending online," he said. "My freaking [Twitter] timeline was going crazy. I was like, 'I can't read it fast enough, oh my God! This is awesome.' If Charlie Sheen was here, he'd say, 'Winning!'"The epic music collaboration capped off an evening that also included performances by Soulja Boy and Shontelle. But in the end, it was the web and streaming series that were the real stars of the evening.
