STRANGER THINGS HAVE HAPPENED

The horror remake When a Stranger Calls — which (and perhaps because it) was not screened for critics — rang up $22 million worth of business this weekend, earning it the No. 1 box-office slot. Rounding out the top 5 were Big Momma's House 2 ($13.35 mil), Nanny McPhee ($9.9 mil), Brokeback Mountain ($5.7 mil, and now in more than 2,000 theaters) and Hoodwinked ($5.3 mil).
