Carell is not only boomeranging back to TV, but coming back to play a morning show anchor struggling to maintain relevance in a rapidly changing media environment. Variety reports that Carell is joining heavy hitters Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston in a still-untitled drama for Apple -- a show about those creepily cheery network morning show that's loosely based on Top of the Morning, a book from CNN correspondent Brian Stelter about the rivalry between NBC's Today and ABC's Good Morning America.
Carell will play play Mitch Kessler in the 10-episode show, which already has at least two seasons on deck.
